What has just happened?

Arsenal sent a major statement to Liverpool and Manchester City with an utterly ruthless dismantling of Chelsea, putting five unanswered goals past a pathetic excuse for a Blues outfit.

It all started inside the first five minutes when Leandro Trossard fired straight through Djordje Petrovic's legs to put Arsenal ahead.

Nicolas Jackson was more than a little fortunate to avoid a red card for a nasty challenge on Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The Chelsea striker caught him square on the ankle but the VAR declined to dish out any punishment, much to the surprise of fans watching on.

Petrovic did his best to redeem himself with three huge saves in four minutes, including a sensational point-blank stop from Trossard.

The second goal felt inevitable and Ben White duly delivered shortly after the restart.

Chelsea decided not to defend a corner and the full-back could hardly believe his luck when the ball fell to him inside the six-yard box.

To rub salt in the Chelsea wounds, Kai Havertz added a third soon after - the same Kai Havertz whose departure was celebrated by the vast majority of Blues fans.

And then Havertz scored again.

While the sight of White celebrating one goal was strange enough, nobody could believe it when the Arsenal right-back got another.

White wasn't even trying to score this time, with what was surely a misguided cross towards Havertz ultimately settling in the back of Petrovic's net.

It was a real humiliation for Chelsea, whereas for Arsenal, it was one of the best results for a long, long time.
