X reacts as Liverpool remain in Premier League title race thanks to 3-1 win over Fulham

Liverpool kept pace with Arsenal atop of the Premier League table thanks to a much-needed 3-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The Reds, after losing last weekend to Crystal Palace, had been in dire need of a confidence-boosting win on Sunday - and they got exactly that.

Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota were enough for Jurgen Klopp's side to bounce back from that defeat, and keeping themselves in the hunt for a second ever Premier League title.

All of the talk before the game centred around on notable omission from Liverpool's starting XI for the game at Craven Cottage.

Having managed just two goals in his last five appearances in all competitions, star man Mohamed Salah was left out of the lineup for Sunday's game - a decision which caused quite the stir on social media...

Jurgen Klopp's decision to drop Salah was almost immediately vindicated, when Luis Diaz - the who replaced him on the right of the Reds attack - came within a whisker of scoring the opening in the early exchanges.

After that early chance, the game endured quite the lull.

For 27 minutes, Liverpool and Fulham prodded the ball around the park with very little intent, giving both sets of supporters nothing to get off their hands for.

And then Trent Alexander-Arnold woke everyone up with a moment of magic.

In his first start since early February, the right-back stepped up and curled a wonderful free kick over the Fulham wall and into the top right corner of the net.

Surprisingly, Liverpool didn't really kick on after opening the scoring, largely failing to test Bernd Leno in the Fulham goal thereafter in the first half.

A combination of that lack of offensive intent and some rather sloppy play from their defence and midfield allowed the home side to find a route back into the game.

Fulham would capitalise upon Liverpool's struggles late in the half to make it 1-1, with Timothy Castagne popping up with the equaliser.

Following what we imagine was quite a stern team talk from Klopp at half-time, Liverpool came out with renewed vigour in the second half, quickly re-taking the lead.

The Reds' second goal would come courtesy of Ryan Gravenberch, who capitalised on some sloppy play from Fulham in their own defensive third to curl the ball beautifully into the bottom right corner of Leno's goal.

Liverpool fans were notably delighted to see their team finally score a goal from open play - their first in over 400 minutes of football.

The Reds pushed on after going ahead, piling the pressure on Fulham's backline for the bulk of the remainder of the second half.

After missing a few decent chances, Liverpool would finally get their third goal of the game in the 71st minute.

The goal would be scored by Diogo Jota - his 100th in English football - who, following a clever pass through from Cody Gakpo, would fire coolly past Leno from the left of the penalty area.
