New Chelsea signing Filip Jorgensen has revealed he is planning to push Robert Sanchez to be the club's starting goalkeeper.

The Blues announced the signing of the Villarreal stopper on a seven-year deal on Wednesday morning, increasing their already packed roster of shot-stoppers that also includes Djordje Petrovic and USMNT talent Gabriel Slonina.

The 22-year-old broke through as Villarreal's starting stopper in La Liga last season, making 37 appearances in all competitions as El Submarino Amarillo finished eighth in Spain's top flight, and he has now spoken about his rivals for the starting spot under manager Enzo Maresca.

He told Chelsea's website: "Robert Sanchez has been with the national team of Spain, where I live, and I followed him a bit when he was at Brighton and now Chelsea.

"I know he is a very good goalkeeper and I hope we can learn from each other and produce the best versions of ourselves together."

Jorgensen also disclosed his adoration for former Stamford Bridge goalie Petr Cech, who became an all-time Premier League great thanks to his performances in north London.

He added: "I am very happy with how the last 12 months have panned out. I am very confident in myself and I know what qualities I have.

"Luckily I had the chance to show myself on the biggest stage in Spain and now I am very happy to have the chance to do that at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"I always liked watching Chelsea because I watched a lot of Petr Cech growing up, so Chelsea were one of my favourite teams to follow."

Chelsea have also been linked with Genk goalie Mike Penders, with Belgian outlet HLN claiming a €20m transfer is close to completion.

Elsewhere, the club has added Omari Kellyman, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Viega and Caleb Wiley to Maresca's squad, who will be searching for a first win of pre-season when they battle Club America in the early hours of Thursday morning.
