Spain and France will meet in the semi-finals of Euro 2024 following their quarter-final victories on Friday.

La Roja and Les Bleus knocked out Germany and Portugal respectively to book their spots in the next round.

Spain were first to reach the semi-finals after eliminating hosts Germany in Friday's earlier kick-off, prevailing 2-1 after extra-time.

La Roja took the lead early in the second half after Lamine Yamal teed up Dani Olmo, who came on early as a substitute and staked his claim for a starting place with a fine goal.

Germany's panic stations set in and they immediately started going long to start. They were eventually rewarded in the 89th minute when Florian Wirtz came up with a last-gasp equaliser.

In the final minute of extra-time, Spain landed the knockout blow, with Mikel Merino heading in an Olmo cross to settle the tie.

Dani Carvajal was later sent off for a second bookable offence, while 16 yellow cards were dished out in total in Stuttgart.

Later on in Hamburg, France knocked out Portugal 5-3 on penalties following an incredibly dull 0-0 draw.

The two sides will meet in Munich on Tuesday night to decide on who will advance to next Sunday's final in Berlin.

Meanwhile, the two other quarter-finals take place on Saturday. England take on Switzerland while Turkey face the Netherlands, with the winners due for a semi-final bout in Dortmund on Wednesday.
