"Solid and exemplary" were the words found by Didier Deschamps to describe his France team at Euro 2024.

Given the talent the former midfield water carrier has at his disposal, the manager's accurate assessment is pretty underwhelming. They've misfired in attack and often boasted England-like levels of incoherence in possession, but Les Bleus are nonetheless one of the final four.

They've defended superbly and have overcome two of FIFA's top ten ranked nations to advance into the semi-finals. However, their best performance of Euro 2024 will be required to topple Spain on Tuesday given how well Luis de la Fuente's team has performed in Germany this summer.

Here's how France could line up for Tuesday's Euro 2024 semi-final in Munich.

GK: Mike Maignan - 'Magic Mike' continued his excellent tournament in the quarter-finals, although it was the post that came to his aid in the shootout. Maignan nonetheless kept his fourth clean sheet this summer which helped take the game to penalties.

RB: Jules Kounde - Player of the Match in the round of 16, Kounde has been one of the unsung stars of Euro 2024. The converted centre-back is yet to put a foot wrong at the tournament, but a big test of his one-on-one ability beckons on Tuesday with Nico Williams being stationed down Spain's left.

CB: Dayot Upamecano - There's been plenty of discourse surrounding the brilliance of his partner this summer, but Upamecano, outside of his penalty giveaway against Poland, has been superb, too.

CB: William Saliba - The Arsenal centre-back has been brilliant this summer and only seems to be growing with confidence in a previously unfamiliar left-sided role. Cristiano Ronaldo was the latest to be shunned by France's Rolls Royce.

LB: Theo Hernandez - There's been less scope for Hernandez to maraud forward from left-back, but the Milan star has defended well this summer. He also delivered the winning spot-kick in the quarter-finals.

CM: N'Golo Kante - The 33-year-old's resurgence has been crucial to France's defensive success. His passing can be wayward, but he still shines without the ball. Kante has a huge role to play in shunning Spain's half-space access.

CM: Aurelien Tchouameni - When he's not playing the piano or podcasting with Steven Bartlett, Tchouameni is shining for his country at the base of midfield. Another astute midfield screener, the Real Madrid star will be put to the test in Munich.

CM: Adrien Rabiot - Antoine Griezmann excelled in a deeper midfield role at the 2022 World Cup, but Deschamps has found it harder to carve out a definitive role for him this summer. There could be a change with Rabiot, suspended for the quarter-finals, coming back into France's functional midfield.

RW: Ousmane Dembele - Deschamps isn't one for risk-taking, but he might gamble on Dembele against Spain. The PSG winger has blown mostly cold in Germany, but he does have a game-breaking performance in him.

ST: Marcus Thuram - Thuram has also underwhelmed at Euro 2024, but Randal Kolo Muani failed to aid France's flagging attack on Friday night. Thus, Deschamps could pivot back to Thuram for Tuesday's semi-final.

LW: Kylian Mbappe - Mbappe's time has got to arrive at some point this summer. Perhaps hindered by his mask, Real Madrid's newest Galactico is yet to score from open play at the tournament - scoring just once from the penalty spot. He'll be buoyed by Dani Carvajal's absence.
