Fulham make Scott McTominay decision after Man Utd reject bid
- Fulham have backed away from Scott McTominay pursuit after seeing £20m bid rejected
- Man Utd value the Scotland international at £30m
- Midfielder scored a number of important goals last season
Fulham have backed away from their pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay after having a £20m bid rejected.
The Scotland international scored seven Premier League goals last season, with a number of strikes bailing the Red Devils out of trouble. He also started the FA Cup final, helping his side to a 2-1 victory over local rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
However, he has attracted interest from a variety of clubs during the summer transfer window. Turkish giants Galatasaray have previously made their admiration of the 27-year-old known, while Fulham have now made two bids as they look to strengthen in the middle of the park following the exit of Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich.
The Cottagers are set to halt their interest in McTominay, however, after seeing their latest offer of £20m turned down, according to The Times. United value the Scot, who has made 252 appearances for the club in all competitions since his debut in 2017, at £30m.
The 20-time English champions currently have the likes of Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen available as central midfield options and have been linked with some similar players during the summer.
United had been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain, who recently splashed out €70m for Portuguese starlet Joao Neves, to sign Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte. However, a lofty asking price has seen the Premier League outfit back away from negotiations and pursue other targets instead.
Manager Erik ten Hag is still interested in a double deal for Bayern defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, with the Bundesliga club's sporting director recently giving a cryptic update on the saga.
United have finished their tour of the United States, beating Real Betis in between losses to English foes Arsenal and Liverpool, and are next in action on Saturday when they take on Man City in the Community Shield.
