Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed that the club's manager Hansi Flick has expressed concerns about the financial uncertainty surrounding the Catalan giants going forward.

On Thursday, La Liga's leaders were boosted by the news that Dani Olmo and Pau Victor can continue to play for the club throughout the remainder of the season. The sporting arm of the Spanish government vindicated Barcelona's appeal against La Liga's ban of both players, agreeing that the Spanish top flight and the nation's football federation had no jurisdiction to deny an individual a playing licence based on financial restrictions.

However, that legal triumph will only last until the summer - when Barcelona once again have to find a way to comply with La Liga's strict economic regulations. This will be even more difficult after the league claimed that the income from a €100m VIP seating deal agreed at the end of 2024 never went through. "Neither on 31 December, nor on 3 January nor today do Barcelona have the margin to comply with financial fair play," read a statement from La Liga released on Wednesday.

Laporta was visibly thrilled with what he saw as Barcelona's vindication, although revealed the doubts harboured by his manager. "Some news comes in, and Flick asks me: 'Will this happen again?'" the president told reporters shortly after the announcement.

"Look, I don't know, but we'll keep fighting. It's logical that the coach and the players are concerned about the news that comes out. Hansi is a very rigorous and strict person and wants to know the reasons for some decisions, which is why he asked me."

Despite the rampant unrest off the pitch, Barcelona have been remarkably composed on the field this season. Flick's side boast a three-point lead at La Liga's summit, are through to the Copa del Rey final and are considered favourites to win the Champions League.

In an attempt to deflect from the controversy, Laporta took his brief appearance in front of the press to hail Flick. "Thank you very much, coach, for being here," he gushed. "It's a great pleasure for us to see how you understand Barca, the way you respect our club. You're doing a great job, Hansi. Everyone knows it, especially in the way you lead the team. We're more than happy to share these events with you."

Laporta added: "I would tell the fans to enjoy the moment. We have a sensational coach and team. It's a time when we can dream. We have overcome many adversities and this season can be very successful." However, many may share Flick's concerns that the same adversities will arise next season.
