How Juventus' social media account wrongly announced the signing of Arda Guler
- Juventus surprisingly announced the signing of Arda Guler on Monday
- Their X account was hacked
- They have released a statement clarifying the post
Juventus have admitted that their X social media account was hacked on Monday evening, after a post announced that they had signed Real Madrid starlet Arda Guler.
The club's English X account surprisingly posted an image of Guler on Monday with the caption: "Welcome to Juventus, Arda Guler. The rising star of football is now part of the Juventus family." And while many fans saw it for what is was - a hoax - it left many incredibly confused by how the incident would occur.
In a statement posted soon after on their Italian social media accounts, Juventus moved to clarify the situation, writing: "Our Juventus English account has been hacked. Please ignore the false information being published on this account."
Guler has been on the books at Real Madrid for just over one year, having joined during the 2023 summer transfer window for an initial €20m, but has struggled for game time at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Turkey star has managed just seven starts in all competitions in his first year at Madrid.
This lack of game time has led to Guler's name regularly coming up in transfer gossip columns as of late, with the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur both being previously linked with a move for the talented youngster.
Juventus actually already have a Turkish wonderkid on their books currently. The young Kenan Yildiz was entrusted with the famous number ten jersey heading into the 2024/25 campaign, and has become a key player under new boss Thiago Motta. He's started nine games in all competitions already this season - two more than Guler has started throughout the entirety of his Madrid career thus far.
