Chelsea strikers Sam Kerr and Mia Fishel will travel to Portugal for their club's summer training camp to continue their recoveries from injury.

Australia international Kerr hasn't been named in Chelsea's squad since January 2024, when she suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Last month, head coach Sonia Bompastor said she expected the 31-year-old to make a return in either February or March.

United States striker Fishel is also yet to play for the west-London side since suffering the same injury in February 2024. Although both players will not train with the rest of the squad and instead continue with their own recoveries, their addition is a very promising step in the right direction.

The Blues are currently top of the Women's Super League (WSL) after accumulating 28 points during the first half of the 2024/25 campaign, staying six points clear of Manchester City.

They've also replicated their perfect start in the UEFA Women's Champions League, reaching the quarter-finals and maintaining a winning streak.

The squad will now spend the next week training in Portugal ahead of their first match of 2025, which will see them host Charlton Athletic in the fourth round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup at Kingsmeadow on 12 January. They will then later return to WSL duty on 19 January, with a visit to West Ham United who sit third from the bottom.
