Jadon Sancho's Man Utd struggles made clear by insane statistic from Dortmund's win over PSG

Jadon Sancho's resurgence away from Manchester United continued on Wednesday evening with a stunning showing for Borussia Dortmund against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

Sancho, who joined Dortmund on loan in January after being banished by United boss Erik ten Hag, was the star of the show as the German side secured a huge victory, somehow walking away from the game without two or three assists.

During the game, Sancho completed an insane 12 dribbles. He is the first Englishman to ever reach those heights in the Champions League since records began in 2003/04. The last player to complete more than 12 in the semi-final of the competition was a certain Lionel Messi against United in 2008.

It was also more take-ons than any Dortmund player has managed in a Champions League over the past eight years.

For United, however, Sancho's excellent showing has only raised more questions about why he failed to showcase his best form at Old Trafford.

Indeed, across his 82 appearances for United, Sancho never completed more than six dribbles in a single game. He managed seven inside the first 30 minutes against PSG.

Only Neymar has ever completed more dribbles than Sancho in a knockout game in the Champions League, having managed 13, 15 and 15 again between 2017 and 2020.

Sancho's deal with Dortmund does not include a purchase clause and he is therefore set to return to United this summer, although Dortmund are expected to try and retain his services for at least one more year.

United declined to insert a purchase agreement in Sancho's loan in the hope that he would rebuild his value in Germany, and that decision may just pay off even if the Red Devils still have to prepare themselves to make a huge loss on the £73m they paid to sign Sancho in 2021.
