James Ward-Prowse has completed a deadline day loan move to Nottingham Forest after agreeing to leave West Ham United.

The 29-year-old joined the Hammers from Southampton just last summer, but played just 16 minutes under new boss Julen Lopetegui this season, coming off the bench during West Ham's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on the opening weekend.

His move to Forest is expected to offer the midfielder more game time, after falling down the pecking order in London amid the arrival of Lopetegui.

Ward-Prowse made 37 appearances in the Premier League for West Ham last season, forming a vital part of their top-flight campaign, offering seven goals and seven assists.

After joining Forest, Ward-Prowse told club channels: "I'm delighted to be here. When I knew I had the opportunity to join the club and come and show what I can do, I thought it was a fantastic opportunity.

"Having played Nottingham Forest a few times, the atmosphere here is one of the best I've played in, in the Premier League, so to now hopefully experience that week in, week out is something really special."

Forest face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, before preparing to travel to Liverpool after the international break - during which Ward-Prowse could make his debut.
