Joshua Zirkzee reveals reason for joining Man Utd

Joshua Zirkzee has revealed the reasons behind his move to Manchester United, sharing his excitement around joining the "biggest club in the world".

The Dutchman became the first signing of the INEOS era, making the move to the Premier League after two impressive seasons at Serie A's Bologna and joining Erik ten Hag's side as they attempt to improve on their results from the last campaign.

Zirkzee has admitted that his decision to join United was an easy one as he looks forward to starting his new "journey" at Old Trafford.

Speaking to club media in his first interview as a Red Devil, Zirkzee said: "I have a lot of trust and a good feeling about this step. It wasn't a difficult decision. I mean, I love Bologna a lot, but Man Utd just gave me a very, very good feeling.

"I'm confident that what's planned will also happen. It's been a rollercoaster, the past few weeks. Some very good experiences and I'm very happy to be here. Obviously, making a transfer to Man Utd is something very positive.

"I just can't wait to get started and continue what I basically did last season. I'm just hoping to improve every day and do the best I can. I mean, it's probably the biggest club in the world, so I can't wait to get started and get to know everyone and start this journey. I'm very, very excited. [Old Trafford] is an insane stadium. I can't wait to play in the stadium. Just very, very excited, very motivated."

Zirkzee's arrival at United has opened questions as to where he may fit in amongst the squad. Ten Hag could opt to replace Rasmus Hojlund with the Dutchman, but could also position both Hojlund and Zirkzee in a strike partnership - increasing the team's power in attack.
