Jude Bellingham praised his new teammate Kylian Mbappe after the French star scored in his Real Madrid debut.
The former Paris-Saint Germain forward made the highly-anticipated move to the Spanish capital this summer, joining the likes of Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo in Madrid. Mbappe made his debut for Los Blancos in Wednesday evening in the UEFA Super Cup clash with Atalanta, netting his side's second goal in the 2-0 win.
Speaking after the game, new teammate Bellingham admitted that he was extremely impressed with Mbappe's goalscoring debut: "I thought he was amazing before and now I've got the chance to play with him and see the details a little bit closer," Bellingham told the media after lifting the Super Cup in Warsaw.
"He’s just one of those players, isn't he? He is brilliant – he is so sharp, has so much technical quality and he is a great teammate as well. He doesn't just rely on the quality he's got, he works like a dog for the team like the rest of the lads. Credit to him he deserves it.
"He's settled right in and it's a great team. It's a great dressing room for welcoming players and we'll do the same with him. I'm sure he'll give us more rewards like he did tonight.
"The speed, the quality, the work without the ball, the way he is a leader. I can't speak highly enough of him. It's a big step for him. People have been talking about him coming here for a long time and it feels like he's been here for a while."
Madrid kick off their 2024/25 La Liga campaign with a trip to Mallorca on 18 August.
