- 17-year-old will miss first Barca fixture of 2024/25 campaign
Lamine Yamal will miss Barcelona's La Liga clash with Real Sociedad after being ruled out due to injury.
The 17-year-old has quickly become an integral part of Hansi Flick's squad after an immense 2023/24 campaign with the Catalan side. Yamal has featured in every one of Barca's games so far this season, netting six goals in 16 appearances.
But, the Spanish youngster will not feature in his side's trip to Sociedad after picking up a knock in Wednesday's Champions League meeting with Red Star Belgrade.
Barca have confirmed that the winger has been in recovery since the midweek battle, but has failed to regain fitness in time for Sunday's outing. Fermin Lopez will occupy the right-wing spot in the absence of Yamal, giving the 21-year-old a chance to score his first La Liga goal of the season.
Yamal is expected to head out on international duty with Spain during the November break after earning a spot in Luis de la Fuente's squad. The European champions are set to face Denmark and Switzerland in UEFA Nations League fixtures on 15th and 18th November respectively.
Barca will return to action on 23 November against Celta Vigo in Galicia after an immense start to the 2024/25 campaign. The Catalans sit atop the La Liga table on 33 points, ahead of their clash with Sociedad.
