Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal became the youngest goalscorer in El Clasico history as his side thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 at the Bernabeu.

Saturday night's visitors navigated an even first half before firing out of the traps at the start of the second period, with Robert Lewandowski's brace quick brace putting them in complete control.

The La Liga leaders protected their lead well and added to it in the 77th minute when Yamal went streaking through on the right and finished high at Andriy Lunin's near post. It meant he became the youngest ever scorer in the fixture's long and storied history at only 17 years and 105 days old, beating the record which was set 77 years ago.

Alfonso Navarro was the previous holder, having struck twice for Barca against Madrid aged 17 years and 365 days in 1947.

The scoring wasn't done there, however, as more porous defending from Carlo Ancelotti's side allowed Raphinha to get in behind and loop an effort over Andriy Lunin, making it 4-0 and capping a truly devastating night for the Spanish and European champions.

It was all smiles in the Barca camp, though. Hansi Flick had overseen a 4-1 victory over former club Bayern Munich on Wednesday and was gearing up for a second huge game in the space of a week with the trip to the nation's capital.

He and his team were far from overawed, however, and secured the victory which took them six points clear of Madrid at the top of the table after 11 matches. Barca have won only one La Liga title during the 2020s, that coming under Xavi Hernandez in 2022/23, but now have a wonderful platform to build on having won at the Bernabeu for the first time since 2022, when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres did the scoring.
