Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are both interested in signing Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane, according to reports in Germany.

Sane is very familiar with the demands of England's top flight after spending four trophy-laden seasons with Manchester City. The German winger didn't always enjoy the best relationship with Pep Guardiola and missed most of his final campaign at the Etihad with an ACL tear, but still managed to rack up 54 combined goals and assists in 90 Premier League appearances.

It has been increasingly difficult for Sane to replicate his form at City in Bayern Munich colours. Since the summer appointment of Vincent Kompany, the 28-year-old has scarcely had any time on the pitch. Sane's former Manchester City teammate is yet to offer him a single start in the Bundesliga or Champions League this season, prompting numerous reports of an exit when his contract at Bayern expires in June 2025.

Bild's Christian Falk became the latest outlet to claim that Manchester United have registered an interest in Sane. City's historic rivals have supposedly already made an inquiry about the forward's availability. Arsenal are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

The soon-to-be free agent holds all the power in any transfer negotiations - which can begin with any foreign club from January onwards. Bayern Munich always wanted to keep Sane over the summer, as 90min reported at the time, and talks regarding a potential contract extension are still ongoing.

Sane is not the only Bayern player on United's radar. The 13-time Premier League champions have also been linked with Leon Goretzka. Much like his compatriot, Goretzka has been shunted to the periphery of Bayern's setup by Kompany and is potentially beyond his physical peak at 29.

The once-buccaneering midfielder's contract doesn't expire until 2026, so any move to Manchester United would require a transfer fee - an obstacle that doesn't exist when it comes to Sane's suitors.
