Liverpool predicted lineup vs Bayer Leverkusen - Champions League
- Liverpool welcome Bayer Leverkusen under the Anfield lights on Tuesday night
- Ibrahima Konate a fresh injury concern from Saturday's win over Brighton
- Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones among those poised to return to the XI
Arne Slot is the man who can do no wrong. His Liverpool team continue to roll off the back of his calming presence and he'll be keen to score a victory over Xabi Alonso on Tuesday night.
The Reds enter this Champions League clash at the summit of the Premier League and as one of only two teams to maintain a 100% start to the league phase through three games.
Slot's enjoyed a remarkable start to his tenure, but he'll be well aware that managers are never too far away from crashing back down to earth, especially with fixtures continuing to arrive thick and fast.
The Dutchman hasn't been one for wholesale rotation at the start of the 2024/25 campaign, but several changes could be made to his starting XI on Tuesday following Saturday's 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. Here's the team Slot could pick for Leverkusen's visit.
Liverpool predicted lineup vs Bayer Leverkusen (4-2-3-1)
GK: Caoimhin Kelleher - The Irishman has once again filled in ably for the injured Alisson and Kelleher produced a fine performance to keep a clean sheet on Matchday 3 against RB Leipzig.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold - Alexander-Arnold has emerged as a stout one-v-one defender at the start of the 2024/25 campaign and his defensive abilities will be put to the test by a free-flowing and fluid Leverkusen left flank.
CB: Joe Gomez - Ibrahima Konate is okay and could be included in Tuesday's matchday squad, but Slot may not want to risk the French defender right away. Thus, there could be a rare start for Gomez, who came off the bench to replace Konate on Saturday.
CB: Virgil van Dijk - The towering Dutch centre-back was responsible for Konate's withdrawal at the weekend and is set to be joined by a new partner here, but he's very much familiar with Gomez.
LB: Andy Robertson - Slot recently spoke about the need to manage Robertson given his lack of a pre-season and he was handed a breather on Saturday. Rotation should see the Scot re-enter the fold at Kostas Tsimikas' expense.
CM: Ryan Gravenberch - Gravenberch has been a revelation at the base of midfield and some of his best work so far has arrived in this competition.
CM: Alexis Mac Allister - The Argentine found the back of the net against Bologna on Matchday 2 and is reasserting himself as a critical figure in this Liverpool team after an excellent debut season. He'll float between the double pivot and a more advanced position here.
RW: Mohamed Salah - Saturday's match-winner opted for an odd and cryptic post-match message which will undoubtedly have a few Liverpool fans sweating, but you can bet your bottom dollar that his finish at the weekend was not his last at Anfield.
AM: Curtis Jones - Dominik Szoboszlai struggled at the weekend and should come out of the side at Jones' expense. The Englishman had a great impact off the bench against Brighton as the Reds fought back to win in the second half.
LW: Luis Diaz - Cody Gakpo enjoyed the series with the Seagulls, scoring in both victories last week, but he could be rotated out of the XI on Tuesday night with Diaz ready for a return to the team.
ST: Darwin Nunez - With Slot preferring Gakpo wide left and Diogo Jota out injured, Liverpool currently don't have many alternatives to Nunez up top. The chaotic forward scored the game's only goal in Leipzig two weeks ago.
