Arne Slot got the perfect response from his Liverpool team in midweek after they succumbed to a shock home defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend.

The Reds fell behind early to Milan in their Champions League opener before taking advantage of the Rossoneri's dysfunction at the start of the Paulo Fonseca era to win 3-1.

Slot's Liverpool were excellent on Tuesday night and the Dutchman will be keen to oversee a return to winning ways on the domestic front this weekend. The Merseysiders are once again in action at Anfield as Andoni Iraola's Bournemouth come to town. The Cherries, in their 125-year history, have never won away at Liverpool.

Here's how Slot could set his team up for Bournemouth's visit this weekend.

GK: Caoimhin Kelleher - Slot confirmed in his pre-match presser Alisson is an injury doubt, so there could be a return to action for Kelleher, who's previously impressed in the Brazilian's absence and is worthy of claiming a number one shirt elsewhere.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold - Returning to a more traditional right-back function is getting the best out of Alexander-Arnold and there will be space for the supreme passer to exploit in behind Bournemouth's defence on Saturday.

CB: Ibrahima Konate - The towering Frenchman was on the scoresheet in Milan and it seems as if he's returning to his most dominant form after a poor end to last season.

CB: Virgil van Dijk - The Liverpool captain also took advantage of Milan's set-piece woes on Tuesday night to help the Reds overturn their 1-0 deficit. He's a shoo-in for Premier League outings when available.

LB: Andy Robertson - Kostas Tsimikas was a surprise starter in midweek and he endured an up-and-down night. There's no doubt Slot will welcome stalwart left-back Robertson back into the team on Saturday.

CM: Ryan Gravenberch - There's still plenty of learning for Gravenberch to do in a deeper midfield position, as last weekend's defeat to Forest proved. However, the gifted Dutchman has also offered plenty of promise in Slot's fluid midfield configuration.

CM: Alexis Mac Allister - The classy Argentine is a do-it-all performer who's comfortable in multiple zones on the pitch. He's critical to this Liverpool team and will continue in the XI this weekend.

RW: Mohamed Salah - After drawing a couple of blanks in back-to-back games, Salah will be hungry for goals against the Cherries. FPL owners are also keen for a response from their prized asset.

AM: Dominik Szoboszlai - The Hungarian struggled against Forest but was excellent at San Siro and has enjoyed a great start to the new season. Szoboszlai's relishing the freedom handed to him by the new manager.

LW: Cody Gakpo - Having starred on Tuesday night, Gakpo deserves to keep his place in the XI over Luis Diaz. The Dutch forward is at his best when drifting in off the left flank.

ST: Darwin Nunez - Darwin's future under Slot remains unclear but the striker could come into the team this weekend. The Uruguayan's willingness to run in behind caused Bournemouth all sorts of problems during the last meeting back in January as he scored twice in a 4-0 rout.
