Liverpool star admits losing Mohamed Salah 'would be hard'

Luis Diaz has admitted that life at Liverpool would be tough without Mohamed Salah, with the forward already into the final year of his contract at Anfield.

Salah made a worrying admission after Sunday's 3-0 triumph over Manchester United, confirming that no one at Liverpool had begun discussions over a new contract. The 32-year-old, who moved to Anfield in 2017, is set to end an eight years on Merseyside when his current deal runs out in June.

New manager Arne Slot was quick to play down speculation of a move away, insisting that there was a long way to go before fans needed to worry about Salah's future.

However, it seems it's not just fans who are concerned about Salah's potential movements, as teammate Diaz has revealed his feelings on the matter.

"It would be hard for us," he told Telemundo. "It would be hard for Liverpool. It will hurt a lot, he has a year to think about it, it is not easy at all. He always talks to us, it would be very hard to lose a player as key as he is. It is his decision and it is respected, hopefully he doesn't leave."

Salah has achieved immense success since moving to Liverpool, collecting a Premier League title, Champions League trophy and FA Cup, among others. His tally of 214 goals is also fifth on the club's list of all-time top scorer.

Liverpool have kicked off their 2024/25 campaign with victories over Ipswich Town, Brentford and Manchester United. Salah, who's played in every game, has already registered three goals already.
