Division 1 Feminine side Lyon are reportedly pursuing a move for Arsenal’s Katie McCabe this summer.

The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international has been with the Gunners for the majority of her senior career so far having initially joined the club back in 2015. She has amassed over 190 appearances for the club across all competitions and scored 30 goals.

According to The Athletic, Lyon have identified the defender as a firm target this summer and are willing to make a formal bid should they be given any indication Arsenal are willing to enter negotiations.

The article states that the French side have expressed their interest to the Gunners, but were swiftly informed she is not for sale this summer and remains part of the club’s plans for the upcoming campaign. However, this has not discouraged Lyon and interest remains strong.

McCabe signed a new contract last year and Arsenal have not shown any desire to part ways with the 28-year-old, even handing her the number 11 shirt vacated by Vivianne Miedema's exit this summer.

Throughout her nine years in North London, McCabe has won one league title, three League Cups and one FA Cup. The defender made her senior Ireland debut in 2015, the same year she joined Arsenal, and she has gone on to make over 80 appearances for the national team.

Former Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro was appointed Lyon’s new head coach last month to replace Sonia Bompastor, who joined Chelsea earlier in the summer. Montemurro was in charge of the Gunners between 2017 and 2021 before he joined Italian outfit Juventus.
