- Man City confirm knee surgery for star striker Vivianne Miedema
- Netherlands international hasn't played since 2-0 win over Barcelona
- City have given no sign of a potential return date
Manchester City have announced star striker Vivianne Miedema has undergone 'successful surgery' on her left knee over the international break.
Miedema has not featured for City since the club's 2-0 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Women's Champions League, missing consecutive Women's Super League games against Liverpool and Aston Villa earlier in the month.
The club have not given any indication of a potential return date for Miedema, leaving City fans worried about the extent of the injury.
City commented: "The Dutch international will now begin a period of rehabilitation at the City Football Academy, working closely with the club's medical team."
Gareth Taylor's side were recently boosted by the return of Jill Roord, after the Dutch international came back from an extended spell on the sidelines after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in January.
In spite of Roord's positive return, the Cityzens have been without young defender Naomi Layzell after the 20-year-old picked up an ankle injury in the side's victory over Barcelona at Joie Stadium. Layzell and Miedema are all that make up City's injury list at this stage as the side prepare to face Crystal Palace this Sunday in the WSL.
