Man City predicted lineup vs Ipswich - Premier League

There were further signs of Manchester City's fallibility when they surrendered a two-goal lead at Brentford on Tuesday night.

The Bees' late show at the Gtech hardly came as a major surprise given what we've seen from Pep Guardiola's side over the past couple of months. This wasn't a result that will hinder a Premier League title charge, but one which saw them lose momentum in their quest to secure a top-four spot.

The Cityzens are on their travels again this weekend, and Guardiola could welcome back a couple of injured stars back into his matchday squad.

Here's how City could line up at Ipswich.

GK: Stefan Ortega - Ortega has generally been sturdy between the sticks but Wednesday night wasn't his finest work. Ederson may well be considered again, but it seems as if Pep will keep his faith in the German.

RB: Rico Lewis - With Kyle Walker excluded, Matheus Nunes has been used at right-back sporadically in recent weeks. However, there should be rotation on Sunday with the emerging Lewis coming back into the team.

CB: Manuel Akanji - The Swiss defender will surely be considered at right-back one City get Ruben Dias and John Stones back. For now, Akanji will continue at the heart of City's defence.

CB: Nathan Ake - Dias is back in training and could be back in the matchday squad on Sunday. However, the Portuguese defender will likely be preserved for next week's trip to Paris, allowing Ake to start once more.

LB: Josko Gvardiol - Guardiola could offer Gvardiol respite by using Lewis at left-back and retaining Matheus Nunes in defence. The Croat has been out of sorts this season, but the alternatives are sub-optimal. Hello, Andrea Cambiaso?

CM: Ilkay Gundogan - Gundogan nor Mateo Kovacic have been able to mitigate Rodri's absence at the base of midfield, with Guardiola struggling to stumble upon an optimal formula for shunning opponents in transition.

RM: Bernardo Silva - The ol' reliable seemingly doesn't do breathers, and only two City players have racked up more Premier League minutes than Silva.

AM: James McAtee - Kevin De Bruyne's still got it, and he'll likely get a rest ahead of the significant tussle with PSG. Thus, the door could be open for McAtee, hat-trick hero last weekend, to earn a very rare Premier League start.

AM: Phil Foden - After a mute first half to the 2024/25 season, Foden has burst into life in recent weeks. The Englishman was at the double in west London on Wednesday.

LM: Jeremy Doku - Savinho's been excellent down his 'natural' flank, but Guardiola does have alternatives. Doku or Jack Grealish may get the nod in East Anglia.

ST: Erling Haaland - Haaland helped City overcome their early deficit in the reverse fixture, and there's surely no better way to celebrate a bumper contract extension than by returning to the scoresheet at Portman Road.
