They can't do it again, surely? Well, with Pep Guardiola at the helm, can anyone ever bet against Manchester City?

Off the back of a treble-winning 2022/23 season, the Cityzens rose again in 2023/24 to beat an excellent Arsenal side to the Premier League title, their fourth on the bounce.

This is a historic unit aiming to create more history in 2024/25 by securing a fifth championship in a row. There isn't likely to be a major squad overhaul, although Guardiola should have a couple of fresh faces to hone and develop.

As it stands, here are Man City's squad numbers for the 2024/25 campaign.

There are a few low numbers still available at City, with Savio a strong contender to take Joao Cancelo's number 7 shirt. The Portugal international was on loan at Barcelona last season and does not have a future in Manchester.

Raheem Sterling and Stephen Ireland are among the modern-day icons to don City's 7.

Any back-up goalkeeper signed in the event of Ederson's departure will likely become the club's number 1, while other new arrivals, of which there aren't expected to be many, are set to have their selection of several numbers in the 20s.

What numbers can Premier League players wear?

There are two primary rules when it comes to Premier League squad numbers. Every number must be unique within the squad and players cannot wear zero. This is not the NFL.

Ederson, meanwhile, is one of several Premier League goalkeepers to buck the tradition of keepers wearing between number 1 and 13.

First teamers generally take shirt numbers between 1 and 30, although City have a couple of stars with distinctly high numbers. Phil Foden and Rico Lewis have worn 47 and 82 respectively since their breakthroughs into Guardiola's squad.

Can Premier League players change squad numbers?

Premier League players can change their squad number during pre-season or if one is sold or loaned to another club in the January transfer window.

Clubs must submit their confirmed squad list - including shirt numbers - by a specified deadline each year and numbers cannot be changed thereafter. This deadline arrives after the summer transfer window.
