Manchester City's preparations for the 2024/25 campaign continue in New York this weekend as they take on Serie A giants Milan on Saturday night.

Pep Guardiola has taken a youthful Cityzen squad across the pond and their inexperience showed in a 4-3 defeat to Celtic which opened up their tour. However, the City boss would have been pleased with the performance of Jack Grealish, while Erling Haaland got himself on the scoresheet.

Another stern test is around the corner in the form of the Rossoneri and keen Serie A watchers will be intrigued to see how they fare this summer given the club parted ways with longtime coach Stefano Pioli at the end of last season. Former Roma manager Paulo Fonseca is back in Italy via Lille and leading Milan into 2024/25.

Here is 90min's guide to Man City's upcoming friendly against Milan.

Man City team news

Ederson continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and has dealt with a fractured eye socket over the summer. However, the Brazilian goalkeeper has travelled to the United States and came off the bench to replace Stefan Ortega against Celtic.

Guardiola will likely deploy two different starting XIs at the start of each half, so there will once again be ample chances for the litany of academy stars the Spaniard has at his disposal to impress.

Rico Lewis, Oscar Bobb, Kalvin Phillips, Grealish and Haaland are among the familiar names that will feature in New York.

Milan team news

Fonseca has overseen just one friendly this summer - a 1-1 draw with Rapid Wien - so he'll be continuing his evaluation of the squad out in the US.

Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, Tijjani Reijnders and new signing Alvaro Morata won't be making the tour due to their recent international commitments, while Rafael Leao and Noah Okafore are unlikely to be available for Saturday's game.

Luka Jovic as well as USMNT stars Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah should earn minutes.

Man City vs Milan score prediction

There should be goals in New York if City's opening game of the tour is anything to go by. While Guardiola's side have the tools to outwit any team in possession, they were scythed apart by Celtic time and time again in their 4-3 defeat as a couple of youngsters struggled.

Thus, while Milan are getting to grips with a new manager, they should have joy going forward at Yankee Stadium. Fonseca is a control-oriented coach whose ideals should translate quickly to this Milan squad.

This one could go either way with neither manager particularly desperate to score a victory. Let's back City to get the job done.

Prediction: Man City 3-2 Milan
