Man Utd eye Barcelona centre-back to fix defensive issues under Ruben Amorim

Manchester United are reported to have turned to Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen in their push to address their woeful defensive performances of late.
United matched an all-time club record of 18 goals conceded across a single calendar month in December, having lost four games on the bounce in all competitions, and five out of their last six in the Premier League alone.
To try and address their woes at the back, Mundo Deportivo state United are keeping a close eye on Christensen, who could be allowed to leave Barcelona in 2025 after falling down the pecking order. The Dane's injury absence during the first half of the season also proved key to registering Dani Olmo.
Perhaps working in Christensen's favour is his experience playing in a back three. It was his time at Chelsea the heart of Antonio Conte's defence which established him on the international stage and, although he has been used largely in a defensive duo ever since, his impact under the Italian has not been forgotten.
However, United may face a battle to convince Christensen to leave Barcelona as he recently confessed he has no plans to walk away from Catalonia just yet.
"I can only speak from the conversations I've had with the club, and, so far, they've just said to make sure I'm ready, and they're looking forward to me being back," he told TV Sport 2 as he prepares to return from injury.
"Of course [I'm staying at Barcelona]. I approach it with the attitude that it will be difficult. [Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez and Ronald Araujo] have done incredibly well, and it's up to me to knock them off. The ultimate goal is to come back and play as many matches as possible, but it will be difficult."
