Manchester United are facing a major selection issue ahead of Saturday's visit from Brentford, with three full-backs expected to be unavailable.

Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have made progress in their recoveries from injury, but neither are expected to be fit enough to face Brentford. That's nothing new for Ten Hag, who has been navigating fitness issues for the pair since the start of the 2023/24 season.

It is Diogo Dalot, a right-back by trade, who has spent most of the time over on the left this season, with new signing Noussair Mazraoui starting on the right.

Unfortunately, Mazraoui is currently recovery from minor heart surgery. While he is not expected to miss more than a handful of weeks, he joins Shaw and Malacia on the sidelines and leaves Dalot as the only senior full-back available to Ten Hag.

Ten Hag does have the option to shift Lisandro Martinez out to left-back, a position the Argentine has played on several occasions in the past, while there are even suggestions 36-year-old Jonny Evans could be shifted out wide.

United fans on social media have been crying out for minutes to be given to 17-year-old academy star Harry Amass but, back in August, Ten Hag suggested the youngster was still a little while away from being ready for senior minutes.
