Manchester United have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over the signing of Manuel Ugarte.

The Red Devils have been in negotiations with the French champions for well over a month regarding the Uruguayan midfielder, though had found it difficult to come to an agreement on a transfer fee.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, PSG have accepted an offer worth an initial €50m (£42m) plus €10m (£8.5m) in add-ons from United.

Personal terms are already in place with Ugarte, who will now travel to England to complete his medical and become a new United player.

United have already made four signings so far this window. They kicked off their summer business with the acquisition of striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, before beating Real Madrid to highly-rated Lille defender Leny Yoro.

Just before the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season, Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui completed their long-awaited moves to Old Trafford, and they will now be followed by Ugarte.

The 23-year-old joined PSG last summer from Sporting CP and made 37 appearances in all competitions for Les Parisiens during his debut season. However, he was deemed surplus to requirements heading into the new campaign, not least following PSG's decision to sign Joao Neves from Benfica, and was allowed to pursue an exit.

Ugarte's arrival could spell the end of Scott McTominay's stay at United. Napoli have had a €30m (£25.4m) bid for the Scotland international accepted, with personal terms set to be discussed.

If Ugarte signs and gets international clearance in time, he could make his United debut on Sunday when the Red Devils take on bitter rivals Liverpool. This weekend's meeting will be the first between managers Erik ten Hag and Arne Slot outside of their native Netherlands.
