- Red Devils could look to part ways with Ten Hag after poor campaign
Manchester United 'have contacted' Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel as they reportedly map out potential replacements for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, according to a report.
Dutchman Ten Hag continues to struggle through what has been a tumultuous season with the Red Devils and speculation over his future is rife. He is currently contracted to United until 2025 but a number of coaches have been tipped to take over in the summer.
Kicker's Georg Holzner states United have already been in contact with Tuchel and could offer the former Chelsea coach a route out of the Bundesliga. The German is set to leave Bayern at the end of the campaign, having joined the club in March 2023.
Reports claim Sir Jim Ratcliffe, part owner of United, is keen on bringing Tuchel to the club as he looks to restructure his side ahead of the 2024/25 season. The 50-year-old boasts two Ligue 1 titles, the Bundesliga and a Champions League trophy and has recently progressed to this year's UCL semi-finals with Bayern after defeating Arsenal.
Tuchel's side did, however, surrender the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, who were crowned champions a month before the final gameweek of the season.
Ten Hag suffered further criticism after his side scraped a win over Coventry City to secure passage to the FA Cup final at Wembley, though he still praised his side's mentality for eventually getting over the line.
United led 3-0 before the hour mark in Sunday's semi-final but the Championship side somehow forced the game into extra time and were only beaten on penalties. The FA Cup is Man Utd's last remaining chance of securing silverware this season but they will have to beat reigning champions Manchester City to do so.
