The weeks are failing to wane in significance for Erik ten Hag, who seemingly remains another defeat away from 'the brink' in Manchester.

The mounting pressure on the Dutchman has been alleviated by a pair of draws and a victory in the aftermath of Manchester United's 3-0 defeat at home to Tottenham, but games continue to arrive thick and fast up until the November international break.

United's upcoming schedule is demanding but not particularly tough in terms of opposition. However, Thursday's bout in Istanbul is a huge one for narrative hunters as Ten Hag takes on Jose Mourinho for the very first time. How desperate must the Fenerbahce manager be to get one over his former employers?

Ten Hag's job has been made trickier by United's absences at the start of the 2024/25 season, and the Dutchman won't be able to call upon a long list of players for Thursday's Europa League clash. Here's an overview of United's current injury situation.

Goalkeepers & Defenders

There was a notable injury update in the wake of Saturday's victory against Brentford, with United confirming that summer arrival Leny Yoro has returned to individual training having undergone foot surgery in pre-season.

This is a big step for the French defender, but he remains some way off making his full return to first-team action.

United are also without fellow centre-back Harry Maguire, who picked up a calf injury in the dull stalemate with Aston Villa before the October break. Ten Hag said at the weekend that Maguire would remain sidelined for a "couple of weeks". Jonny Evans is another absentee after sustaining a knock in the Brentford win and not travelling to Turkey.

The club are continuing to take cautious stances over left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, too. While Shaw was involved at Euro 2024 for finalists England, he hasn't played for United since February. Shaw's dealing with a calf injury sustained in pre-season, but he has been back training at Carrington.

The same goes for Malacia, who's hopeful of making his long-awaited return by November. The Dutchman has not played since the final day of the 2022/23 season after undergoing surgery.

Midfielders

Mason Mount's wretched injury luck has continued into his second season at Man Utd. Mount came off the bench during the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham after the home side were reduced to ten, but was later forced off with a head injury that required stitches.

While Mount reassured supporters that he was okay in the aftermath, he hasn't played since. The Englishman had missed the start to the new season with a calf problem.

Mount will not be called upon on Thursday to replace the suspended Bruno Fernandes after the Portuguese playmaker picked up two yellow cards in the 3-3 draw with Porto on Matchday 2.

United are certainly without Kobbie Mainoo for the trip to Istanbul due to a muscle injury sustained earlier this month. There are fears the midfielder could be out until the November international break. On the plus side, Casemiro has been declared fit after earlier being considered a doubt.
