Man Utd injuries: Every player out of Liverpool clash
- Man Utd host rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday
- Red Devils aiming to bounce back from Brighton defeat
- Injuries continue to haunt Erik ten Hag
Manchester United will be keen to bounce back from their stoppage-time defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion when they host fierce rivals Liverpool on Sunday in the Premier League.
The Red Devils are yet to find their feet in 2024/25 after defeat in the Community Shield on penalties, heartbreak at the Amex Stadium and a nervy late victory over Fulham. A positive result against Liverpool could kickstart their campaign.
However, injuries continue to make life difficult for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. The Dutch coach is without his deadline day signing Manuel Ugarte who is yet to be registered, with a host of his new Man Utd teammates stuck in the treatment room.
Goalkeepers & defenders
Defence is where Man Utd are most hurt by fitness concerns, with both senior left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both sidelined. That means that Diogo Dalot is likely to start on the left-hand side of defence, with new signing Noussair Mazraoui residing at right-back.
Another new recruit is also out of action for the Red Devils. Leny Yoro picked up a nasty injury in pre-season and is unlikely to feature until November at the earliest. Fellow centre-back Victor Lindelof is absent with a toe injury, too.
Midfielders
As mentioned, Man Utd will be without Uruguayan midfielder Ugarte for Liverpool's visit, with the club failing to register the former Paris Saint-Germain in time for the weekend fixture. He will be available after the upcoming international break.
Unfortunately for Ten Hag, he is without Mason Mount once again. The former Chelsea midfielder picked up an injury against Brighton last week and is set to miss the rest of the month. He spent much of last season on the sidelines as well.
Forwards
Joshua Zirkzee made an impressive start to life at Man Utd with a winning goal on his debut against Fulham two weeks ago, but Ten Hag has generally favoured using Bruno Fernandes as a false nine so far this season. That may be the case this weekend, too.
Fernandes' inclusion up top has come as a result of an injury to Rasmus Hojlund, who picked up a hamstring strain against Arsenal in pre-season. The Danish forward could make his comeback after the international break.
