Man Utd injuries: Every player ruled out of Arsenal clash
- Man Utd take on title hopefuls Arsenal on Sunday
- Red Devils thrashed 4-0 by Crystal Palace last time out
- Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford could make returns but various others ruled out
Manchester United have some atoning to do for whatever that was they served up at Crystal Palace on Monday night.
In truth, the dysfunction that was on display at Selhurst Park was a microcosm of what's been a hugely disappointing 2023/24 campaign for the Red Devils.
The writing may well be on the wall for Erik ten Hag no matter how the rest of the season plays out, but Sunday's game feels like a huge one for the Dutchman nonetheless. United must offer some response against title hopefuls Arsenal.
Ten Hag is once again short-handed thanks to a litany of injuries, and here are all the United players likely to miss out this weekend.
Goalkeepers & defenders
United supporters were optimistic that Lisandro Martinez, who hasn't completed a full 90 minutes in the Premier League since August, would make his return for Arsenal's visit. The player himself is said to be "desperate" to play, according to Ten Hag.
The United boss, however, won't risk the Argentine this weekend. "He's not ready yet, he needs a little bit more time to go through the process," Ten Hag said on Martinez.
Luke Shaw has also suffered a setback in his recovery and won't feature this weekend. He remains on the sidelines along with Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Willy Kambwala, and Raphael Varane.
Midfielders
There's certainly some good news here with Ten Hag confirming that Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes, who missed his first-ever United game through injury at Palace, have returned to training.
The pair should be available on Sunday, with Fernandes a shoo-in to return to the starting lineup.
Mason Mount, however, has endured another injury setback after starting against Palace. Ten Hag said the midfielder has been "very unlucky", with Mount a certainty to miss Sunday's game having endured an injury-ravaged debut campaign in Manchester.
Forwards
Forgotten man Anthony Martial is back in contention for the Red Devils. Martial has returned to training having not featured for the club since December.
A return to training for Marcus Rashford having missed United's previous four outings means he should be included in Sunday's matchday squad. The England international has an excellent record against Arsenal, scoring twice in this fixture last season.
