Man Utd injuries: Latest team news before Premier League clash with Arsenal
- Ruben Amorim unbeaten as Man Utd manager heading to north London
- Red Devils injury concerns are easing up after torrid start to the season
- Two suspended for the journey to Arsenal on Wednesday evening
If there was one mitigating factor for the much-maligned Erik ten Hag prior to his Manchester United dismissal, it was a mountain of injuries.
The Dutchman had struggled endlessly with fitness issues last season and the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign offered little relief. New manager Ruben Amorim, who has hit the ground running in Manchester, will hope for greater fortune.
The Red Devils have welcomed plenty back since the exciting Portuguese coach took charge after the November international break, although the treatment room certainly isn't empty ahead of Wednesday's trip to Arsenal in the Premier League.
Here is the latest Man Utd injury news ahead of a tantalising duel.
Goalkeepers & defenders
Defensive injuries have been constant for United over the course of the campaign but even their fitness issues in the backline are easing. Amorim claimed that Leny Yoro could be part of the matchday squad for the trip to Arsenal having missed the entirety of his debut season thus far. Harry Maguire also returned to the fray during the 4-0 thrashing of Everton at the weekend.
However, in less positive news, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans have missed recent outings and are expected to be unavailable for Wednesday's encounter. The former has seldom been seen this season and suffered a fresh setback during the November international break, while the latter is doubtful with an unspecified knock.
The biggest frustration ahead of the Arsenal clash is Luke Shaw. The injury-prone left-back had worked his way back into the fold over recent weeks having been missing since Euro 2024, but has since suffered another injury that guarantees he's absent for the midweek meeting with the Gunners - and likely beyond.
Speaking on social media, Shaw revealed: "I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forward, but unfortunately I've had a small setback. I've been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs but this has definitely been my toughest period. I'm absolutely devastated and it's extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time."
Lisandro Martinez returned from injury against Bodo/Glimt last Thursday but picked up a fifth Premier League yellow card of the season against Everton. He's suspended for the Arsenal journey.
Midfielders
Fortunately for Amorim at the start of his reign, his options in midfield and attack are extensive. Kobbie Mainoo, who has been an enormous bright spark for United in recent times, played his first minutes since early October during the weekend win over Everton.
However, much like his teammate Martinez, the young Englishman is suspended for the trip to Arsenal after accumulating a fifth booking of the campaign against the Toffees. He will be a significant miss in an otherwise full-strength midfield.
Bruno Fernandes is fit and available according to Amorim despite a few concerns over his fitness after a 66th-minute substitution on Sunday. He was seen with an ice pack wrapped around his ankle following his withdrawal but will be involved against Arsenal.
