Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke believes Erik ten Hag's Red Devils squad are the 'worst in Premier League history' after picking up just six points from their opening four fixtures.

United have begun their 2024/25 campaign with two wins and two loses - falling to defeats to both Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break. Their most recent game, however, saw them take all three points against newly-promoted Southampton at St. Mary's.

While United have been inconsistent thus far this season, they could still improve on their worst ever Premier League finish last time out - finishing in eighth place.

But former United forward Yorke believes he has seen enough, branding Ten Hag's side as the 'worst' in history.

"We are a million miles away from winning the Premier League," he told beIN Sports. "When talking about the current manager, this was a person to take us forward, and we thought after the first season this was the guy.

"What has happened, yes we have managed to win the FA Cup, but the identity in terms of how we play, where we finish, goals conceded, is the worst in our history since the Premier League started in 1992."

Yorke enjoyed a successful career at Old Trafford, forming a formidable strike partnership with Andy Cole. He won numerous honours during his time with the Red Devils - winning the treble of the Premier League, the FA Cup and Champions League in 1999 as well as two other Premier League titles.

United are set to host League One side Barnsley on Tuesday before taking a trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
