Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to reports, and are now working out the structure of a potential summer transfer.

United sealed their second signing of the summer on Thursday as teenage centre-back Leny Yoro followed Joshua Zirkzee through the entrance at Old Trafford, and there's an appetite to strengthen Erik ten Hag's squad with a new central midfielder and potentially another centre-back.

One stumbling block for United is their need to offload some players before they can make any more signings - Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay two prominent names to have been linked with the exit door in recent weeks.

To try and get around their limited budget, French publication L'Equipe state United are ready to explore a loan move for Ugarte with a view to a permanent transfer, though 90min understands PSG would prefer an outright sale.

The Ligue 1 champions are looking to recoup at least €60m (£51m) to part ways with 23-year-old Ugarte, who is free to leave after struggling to make an impression in his first season at the club, and that figure is not immediately available to United after they agreed a total package for Yoro worth £52m.

Fabrizio Romano adds that United have already agreed personal terms with Ugarte, with negotiations now ongoing with PSG over the structure of a deal.

United had hoped to be able to offload Casemiro to the cash-rich Saudi Pro League – with Ugarte acting as a direct replacement – but an offer for the Brazilian midfielder, who struggled towards the back end of 2023/24 after being asked to fill in at centre-back, has not been forthcoming.

McTominay has been lined with Fulham and West Ham, with the latter also in the mix for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and other money could be made if United are able to field offers for Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof, who are available for the right price.

In addition to Ugarte, United would ideally like to complete a move for Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt, but their interest in Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite is likely over due to the Toffees' unwillingness to lower their £70m asking price.
