Sofyan Amrabat has revealed his wishes to remain at Manchester United beyond his season-long loan from Fiorentina.

Amrabat moved to the Premier League in the summer of 2023 after agreeing a season-long loan to join United for £8.5m. His move from Fiorentina included an option to buy, and the Red Devils would have to pay £21.4m to sign him permanently.

The midfielder struggled to take a regular role in Erik ten Hag's squad, starting just ten league matches. Amrabat has also been utilised often to fill the gaps caused by United's injury crisis, sometimes deployed as a left-back instead of his usual role.

Despite the difficult campaign, Ambrabat remains pleased in his decision to move to Old Trafford, and hopes he can extend his stay in England.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport after United's surprising FA Cup victory over rivals Manchester City, Ambrabat said: "Do I already know what I'm going to do next year? No. We are going to talk.

"Staying is certainly an option. Look, I think it has been a very difficult season. For Manchester United it needs to be much better, and also for me personally. We are going to talk. United are the biggest club in the world, so who wouldn't want to play football here?

"But all parties have to be happy with each other, so we will sit down now and see what happens."

He was also quick to credit the efforts of under-fire manager Ten Hag, who earned his second piece of United silverware against City.

"A very big compliment to the coach, he prepared us so well," Amrabat continued. "This is exactly the plan we wanted and what he said came true. We just had to keep it compact, keep the spaces very small, work really hard and then hope to do something during transitions.

"I think we scored two perfect goals and gave away very little. In the end, all in all, it was a perfect plan and we executed it to perfection."
