Man Utd midfielder gives update on future with contract expiring soon
- Christian Eriksen reveals he is preparing for next season with Man Utd
- Denmark star has been linked with a return to former club Ajax
- Eriksen has won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup at Old Trafford
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen says he hasn't been told to find a new club as his contract heads into its final year.
The Denmark international arrived at Old Trafford in 2022 as a free agent, having impressed at Brentford after making his comeback from a major health scare at Euro 2024.
However, he made only 12 Premier League starts during the 2023/24 campaign, having featured from the off in 25 games the season prior. With Kobbie Mainoo breaking through and the likes of Casemiro, Mason Mount and Scott McTominay providing competition for places, Eriksen's time at United may be coming to an end with his deal expiring next summer.
He said: "I have one year left so for me I am a United player. I haven't been told leave or extension, so in that sense I have one year left on the contract and I feel good, my family is feeling good living in Manchester and United is a nice club.
"In terms of the football you want to play as much as possible. But also you think in terms of: 'How do I see myself? How do I fit into the team?' And in those terms I feel good. I feel that I am in a good place."
Eriksen has been linked with a return to former club Ajax this window, while Anderlecht have also been credited with an interest. He has played in 72 matches in total for United, scoring three.
He made his name in the Premier League during a seven-season stay at Tottenham Hotspur, becoming renowned for his playmaking and strikes at goal from distance.
The 32-year-old left after failing to win a trophy with Spurs and joined Inter in 2020, soon winning the Serie A title under Antonio Conte.
Eriksen then suffered a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020 and was later fitted with a implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, returning to football eight months later with Brentford.
