Manchester United are nearing a deal to sell defender Willy Kambwala to Villarreal, reports have revealed.
The 19-year-old, who made ten appearances for Erik ten Hag's side last season, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford and is reported to have rejected the chance to sign fresh terms.
Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed claims that Kambwala is set to leave United this summer, with Villarreal closing in on a deal which will net the Red Devils around €10m (£8.4m).
The agreement will also see United secure a buy-back clause to bring the teenager back to Old Trafford in the future.
A move to Villarreal would see Kambwala link up with former United centre-back Eric Bailly, who returned to the Spanish side in January following a short spell with Besiktas.
News of Kambwala's exit comes as United look to invest heavily at centre-back following the departure of Raphael Varane.
Talks are progressing with Bayern Munich over Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt, who could be one of two new signings. A bid has been accepted for Lille's Leny Yoro, who is a major target for Real Madrid, while two offers for Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite have already been rejected.
Jonny Evans has also returned to United after his previous contract expired this summer, further adding to the competition for minutes in Ten Hag's squad.
United are looking to cash in on a number of players this summer to boost their transfer budget. The Red Devils are believed to have under £40m available to them initially but hope to raise close to £100m through sales to help finance their expensive plans.
Marseille have seen a £27m bid for Mason Greenwood accepted, while the likes of Casemiro and Antony remain available for the right price.
