Manchester United have agreed a deal to make Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu the first senior signing of the Ruben Amorim era.
After looking at a reunion with Paris Saint-Germain's Nuno Mendes earlier in the window, United spent the past few weeks chasing Dorgu and saw two bids rejected for the Denmark international, with Lecce publicly voicing their determination to keep the 20-year-old.
However, a third bid has seemingly wrapped up negotiations, with Fabrizio Romano revealing United will pay an initial £25.1m, plus a further £4.2m in performance-related add-ons, to bring Dorgu to Old Trafford this month.
Personal terms have already been agreed with Dorgu, who will now jet over to Manchester to undergo a medical ahead of putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.
Left-back has been a priority area for Amorim, who wanted to bolster a position in which United have struggled horribly with injuries in recent years. Luke Shaw has been sidelined since November, while Dutch international Tyrell Malacia is slowly looking to rebuild his match fitness after over a year on the sidelines.
Spanish outlet Diario de Sevilla state United have offered Real Betis the chance to sign Malacia, who could follow winger Antony to the La Liga outfit on loan this month.
Betis, however, have to offload a player before they could recruit Malacia, meaning a deal is far from straight forward to complete.
