Man Utd predicted lineup vs Brighton - Premier League
- Man Utd continue their Premier League campaign with a trip to Brighton on Saturday
- Red Devils missing a number of players in their backline, including Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw
- Joshua Zirkzee could be handed his first start after debut goal against Fulham
Manchester United will be aiming to make it two wins from two on Saturday when they face Brighton in the Premier League.
An 87th-minute winner from summer recruit Joshua Zirkzee earned the Red Devils a narrow 1-0 win over Fulham in the first match of the 2024/25 Premier League season, and Erik ten Hag will be hoping for a more convincing and less nervy victory at the Amex Stadium this weekend.
The Dutch coach is struggling with injuries already this term but the arrival of several summer acquisitions offers him options when it comes to selecting his starting XI on the south coast.
Here is how Man Utd could line up against Brighton.
Man Utd predicted lineup vs Brighton (4-2-3-1)
GK: Andre Onana - There were no mistakes from the gaffe-prone goalkeeper against Fulham and he even earned himself a nice clean sheet. He may be tested more frequently this weekend.
RB: Noussair Mazraoui - Capable of playing on either flank, Mazraoui was deployed at right-back against Fulham during a solid debut. The Moroccan will be offered a different and more problematic challenge by Kaoru Mitoma on Saturday.
CB: Matthijs de Ligt - Man Utd's centre-back injury crisis derailed their 2023/24 season but De Ligt should be a reliable provider in the heart of the backline following his move from Bayern Munich.
CB: Lisandro Martinez - The diminutive Argentine will be put to the test by the likes of Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro but he has often shown himself to be Man Utd's most consistent and authoritative defender.
LB: Diogo Dalot - The Portuguese scored in this fixture on the final day of last season and is likely to operate on the left-hand side of the backline - as he did when he netted at the Amex in May.
CM: Casemiro - After a disastrous 2023/24 season, the Brazilian looked sharp in Man Utd's opener with Fulham. He must find a way to maintain those levels week-in and week-out as the Red Devils scope the market for a defensive midfielder.
CM: Kobbie Mainoo - Mainoo returned to the Man Utd XI in the Community Shield after an impressive 2023/24 season and Euro 2024 campaign. An incredible asset for the Red Devils whenever he steps foot on the pitch.
RW: Alejandro Garnacho - Amad Diallo got the nod against Fulham but was hooked after an hour, with Garnacho perhaps being restored to the starting lineup on the right wing. Will be looking to put a truly awful late miss behind him, though.
AM: Bruno Fernandes - The skipper played a false nine role against Fulham given Rasmus Hojlund's absence but could well return to his favoured number 10 position. A little rustiness saw him miss several excellent opportunities on matchday one.
LW: Marcus Rashford - Confidence continues to desert the electric winger, who was largely underwhelming in Man Utd's opener. Getting the best out of Rashford is Ten Hag's biggest challenge this term.
ST: Joshua Zirkzee - The Dutchman came off the bench with aplomb against the Cottagers, scoring a winning goal just 25 minutes into his debut. While he needs time to adjust and get up to speed, Hojlund's injury means he surely must start at the Amex.
