Manchester United could use a routine win over Fulham as they look to turn the corner but recent history suggests that's unlikely to arrive on Sunday evening.

The Red Devils are alarmingly close to the relegation zone having failed to make any improvements since Ruben Amorim's arrival in the dugout, with the Portuguese coach lambasting his side after last weekend's dismal defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

A similar display at Craven Cottage could result in Man Utd's first defeat at the stadium in almost 15 years, with defensive injuries only exacerbating Amorim's issues. He will be hopeful that Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes can provide some more game-changing moments in the capital this weekend.

Here is how Amorim could line his Man Utd side up in west London.

GK: Andre Onana - The goalkeeper's absolute howler proved costly against the Seagulls last weekend and he was given a needed rest midweek for Rangers' visit in the Europa League. The gaffes are creeping back into Onana's game after a strong start to the season.

CB: Noussair Mazraoui - There are question marks over Mazraoui's fitness after he was omitted against Rangers as a precaution, but he could return to the fold on Sunday night. With Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro major doubts to feature, the Moroccan may be rushed back into the XI.

CB: Harry Maguire - A performance of old from Maguire as he rose from the bench against Rangers, with his error allowing Cyriel Dessers to score an admittedly stunning equaliser.

CB: Lisandro Martinez - Jimenez is renowned for his aerial ability and the Mexican international may target the diminutive Martinez on Sunday. The centre-back's lack of height has proved costly on occasion this season.

RM: Amad Diallo - Man Utd's shining light has taken his game to a new level under Amorim, flourishing in a wide midfield role and as part of the front three. He now has six goals and as many assists in the Premier League this term.

CM: Manuel Ugarte - The Uruguayan will be tasked with winning the midfield battle against the combative Sander Berge and Sasa Lukic, while also shackling either Emile Smith Rowe or former Man Utd midfielder Andreas Pereira.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo - Mainoo hasn't been able to replicate the consistency and quality of his breakout season but has still shown his immense potential in bursts. Should be well rested on Sunday after only a brief cameo midweek.

LM: Diogo Dalot - The Portuguese will have some challenging assignments on Sunday. First up, he will have to stifle the in-form ex-Liverpool winger Harry Wilson, with the speedy Adama Traore likely his opponent in the closing stages.

RF: Alejandro Garnacho - Uncertainty over Garnacho's Man Utd future persists as Chelsea keep an eye on his situation at Old Trafford, with Amorim offering an unconvincing response to questions regarding his future.

ST: Joshua Zirkzee - Zirkzee made the dream debut in this fixture on the opening day of the season, scoring the late winner at Old Trafford in a nervy victory. That's been the highlight of his Man Utd career so far.

LF: Bruno Fernandes - The skipper spared Man Utd's blushes on Thursday with his late winner and he remains a difference-maker for the Red Devils despite those around him struggling to match his often lofty standards.
