Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui, according to reports.

West Ham United had been chasing Mazraoui's signature but a breakdown in negotiations has opened the door to Erik ten Hag to seal a reunion with his former Ajax right-back.

As first revealed by Foot Mercato, United have struck a deal with Bayern over a fee of around €25m (£21.2m) to sign Mazraoui, who has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and is keen to make the move to the Premier League.

The Guardian put the fee at somewhere between £15m and £20m, noting that Ten Hag has pushed for Mazraoui's signing in the hope that the 26-year-old Morocco international could help bring the best out of former Ajax teammate Antony.

However, the key stumbling block in this move remains the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. It is believed that United need to sell their own right-back first before being able to finalise a deal for Mazraoui.

Wan-Bissaka, who has entered the final year of his contract with United, had been a target for West Ham earlier in the summer before his asking price promoted a switch in focus to Mazraoui, but the Hammers are believed to have reignited their interest.

A £15m fee, similar to that agreed between West Ham and Bayern for Mazraoui, is expected to be enough to get a deal for Wan-Bissaka over the line. Some reports even go as far as to claim that an agreement between United and West Ham has already been struck.

Wan-Bissaka is yet to agree personal terms with West Ham but there are not expected to be significant issues in those negotiations.

For United, a move for Mazraoui could be key as the Moroccan is also comfortable at left-back, which was recently identified as a problem area in Ten Hag's squad.

Luke Shaw has not travelled for pre-season as he recovers after England's run to the Euro 2024 final, while Tyrell Malacia was also left at home as he continues his treatment on a knee injury which saw him miss the entirety of last season.
