Leny Yoro is no longer using crutches as the Manchester United centre-back steps up his recovery from a foot injury.

The summer signing suffered a fractured metatarsal in pre-season and underwent surgery in August to address the issue.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Yoro is now walking without the use of crutches, moving him one step closer to his eventual return.

Yoro has even managed to get into the gym at United's Carrington training ground working with the team physios.

It is a clear step in the right direction for Yoro's recovery, but the French centre-back is still expected to require several months on the sidelines while he heals. Indeed, a return has been earmarked for November.

In Yoro's absence, United have endured a difficult start to the season. An opening day victory over Fulham was followed by defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool, leaving the Red Devils 14th in the Premier League standings heading into the international break.

Fellow new signing Matthijs de Ligt made his first start of the season against Liverpool, taking the place of Harry Maguire and starting alongside permanent fixture Lisandro Martinez.
