Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof flung his armband to the ground in frustration as he limped off injured during Sweden's 2-1 win over Slovakia on Saturday.

The 30-year-old missed the start of the season with a toe issue but has managed seven appearances so far this year, including 58 minutes across four Premier League outings.

Unfortunately, it appears as though Lindelof is back on the sidelines after he limped off the field just 26 minutes into Saturday's game.

The severity of Lindelof's injury is not yet known but the veteran defender could not hide his frustration as he left the field, thumping the ground several times and throwing his captain's armband away.

"It's horrible to see," Tottenham Hotspur's Dejan Kulusevski said of his international teammate. "He has just come through a long injury. It's hard to see him like that and I know how hard it is to come back again. It's the worst there is. He is a fantastic guy who deserves the best."

Lindelof is by no means a regular starter at United but he may have expected a greater role under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who is expected to transition to his preferred 3-4-3 formation after joining this past week.

With Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro both sidelined, Lindelof may have stood to play a significant role at the back. Matthijs de Ligt and Jonny Evans are the only United centre-backs believed to be fully fit, with Lisandro Martinez withdrawing from the Argentina squad with a hip injury.
