Manchester City's best players - August 2024
- Man City have won all three of their games so far this season
- They are aiming to win a five title on the spin
- Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne have starred so far
Manchester City have kickstarted their defence of the Premier League title in the way everyone expected them to: by winning their first three games.
Pep Guardiola's side have been utterly exceptional in the early weeks of the campaign, putting every team that they've faced to the sword - thanks largely to Erling Haaland's goalscoring form.
Here's City's best-performing players of the season so far, according to 90min's esteemed player ratings.
5. Savinho
Average rating: 7
Best performance: vs. Ipswich Town
Savinho does not look like a player who has just signed for Manchester City.
He's settled into life at the Etihad Stadium with ease, and while he was previously at a City Football Group owned club, Savinho is surprisingly new to life in the Premier League.
But, the Brazilian has been fantastic in the first few weeks of his City career, particularly impressive with his creativity in the thumping 4-1 win over Ipswich Town.
4. Bernardo Silva
Average rating: 7
Best performance: vs. Chelsea
We all know how good Bernardo Silva is, so that fact that he's been one of City's best players in the first few weeks of the season shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.
His movement and creative spark have been key to their lightning quick start to the season, with the Portugal international bagging two assists in the first three games.
3. Mateo Kovacic
Average rating: 7
Best performance: vs. Chelsea
The fact that City were able to win their first three games of the season without their star midfielder Rodri tells you all you need to know about how good Mateo Kovacic has been.
He's been genuinely fantastic in recent weeks.
2. Kevin De Bruyne
Average rating: 7.6
Best performance: vs. Ipswich Town
When fit, there's no midfielder better in the Premier League.
Kevin De Bruyne has proved as much in the first three games of the 2024/25 season, providing chance after chance for his teammates with his outrageous set pieces and clever defence-splitting through balls.
If he stays fit (and it is a big if), City might walk the league this season.
1. Erling Haaland
Average rating: 8.6
Best performance: vs. West Ham
Three games, seven goals and two hat-tricks.
Erling Haaland is the only footballer in the world who can score goals at this rate.
He is an absolute machine.
