Marc Cucurella has pleaded with the Chelsea hierarchy to give 'stability' and 'patience' to new head coach Enzo Maresca.

The Blues have stumbled through two seasons under the ownership of BlueCo to this point and have entered the 2024/25 campaign with the fourth new manager of their tenure, following on from Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino.

Maresca has arrived from Leicester City to help coach a young squad and implement a possession-based style of football. So far this season, Chelsea have lost to Manchester City and drawn with Crystal Palace, but thrashed Wolves 6-2 away from home and secured qualification to the league phase of the UEFA Conference League.

Cucurella, now one of the squad's senior and longest-serving players having joined in 2022, has urged the board to give Maresca time and space to bring his vision to life.

"I'm happy, I think the coach we have is very good, he has very clear ideas," Cucurella said while on international duty with Spain.

"We come from years of changing coaches, let's see if we can gain stability without many changes and that the coach can transmit his ideas.

"We need stability, we have high-level players, and I hope we can have that patience that is needed, that calm, so that everything goes well. We have the level, we just need stability and letting the coaches and players work to do something important."

Chelsea return to Premier League action on September 14 with a trip to Bournemouth. They will then travel to London rivals West Ham United before heading back to Stamford Bridge to host League Two side Barrow in round three of the Carabao Cup.
