Marcus Rashford has claimed 'we always stick together' at Manchester United after announcing a hiatus from social media.
The 26-year-old played a starring role in United's FA Cup final win against rivals Manchester City on Saturday, but his poor form across the season cost him a spot in England's squad for Euro 2024.
Rashford tallied eight goals and five assists in 43 games for the Red Devils this term, off the back of a hugely impressive 2022/23 campaign in which he scored a career-high 30 goals.
United's struggles through the 2023/24 campaign were well-documented and Rashford received plenty of criticism for his performances. On Monday evening, he announced his decision to take a step back from social media.
After completing 74 minutes in United's FA Cup triumph at the weekend, Rashford was spotted in tears prior to lifting the trophy - the sixth piece of silverware he's won while in the first team. He was also the only United player to have featured in both their FA Cup final victories of 2016 and 2024.
Despite working his way back into Gareth Southgate's plans for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Rashford did not do enough to earn a spot in England's provisional 33-player squad for Euro 2024. Of the players selected by Southgate for this summer's tournament, only all-time top scorer Harry Kane (62) has more goals in a Three Lions shirt than Rashford.
Rashford signed a new contract with United last summer, making him one of the Premier League's highest-paid players. 90min understands he held talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential move to France prior to penning this deal, though the Ligue 1 champions believed they were being used as leverage in negotiations with United.
