Mikel Arteta said Arsenal will keep their feet on the ground after capitalising on Manchester City's draw against Newcastle United with a dramatic victory over Leicester City on Saturday.

The Cityzens slipped up at St James' Park without Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne as they were held to a 1-1 tie by the Magpies.

Arsenal seemed to be strolling towards all three points after going 2-0 up against Leicester but required a couple of second-half stoppage time strikes to secure a 4-2 victory and go level on points with City and one behind Liverpool.

The Premier League title has been decided by tight margins in recent years, with the Gunners missing out by two points last season, making their most recent victory an important one to close the gap at the top.

Arteta, however, insisted it was too early to look too far into the significance of winning when City slip up.

Asked if it was a sweeter win after City dropped points, Arteta responded: "It's the sixth game of the Premier League. We're in September. We want to win every game and we'll do our best to do that. That's it. Let's go game by game, and try to improve every week.

"We talk about that [tension] in September, regardless what we do we are in September. Of course we want to win and start to build the right platform for the season and be in every competition in the places and areas that we want. In order to do that, you have to continue to win, win, win, that's the demand. You see the level of the other teams in the league but we can only control what we do."

Arsenal host Southampton in their next Premier League fixture but first welcome Paris Saint-Germain to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday for their second Champions League outing of the campaign.
