MLS Decision Day has come and gone with fans turning their attention to the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs set to begin Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Decision Day, simply known as the final day of the season, featured every Major League Soccer team in action. Inter Miami successfully, made history by setting a new single-season points record, Atlanta United squeeked into the playoffs, late drama in the Houston Dynamo vs. LA Galaxy match resulted in the latter's crosstown rival finishing atop the Western Conference and more.

Here's the breakdown of who made it into the playoffs and who's going home.

MLS Decision Day: Who made the cut in the Eastern Conference?

Here are the nine playoff teams from the Eastern Conference, based on their final placings:

  1. Inter Miami - 74 points
  2. Columbus Crew - 66 points
  3. FC Cincinnati - 59 points
  4. Orlando City - 52 points
  5. Charlotte FC - 51 points
  6. New York City FC - 50 points
  7. New York Red Bulls - 47 points
  8. CF Montreal - 43 points
  9. Atlanta United - 40 points

Montreal faces off against Atlanta United with hopes of moving on deeper into the playoffs. The winner will advance to face Inter Miami on Friday, Oct. 25, a quick turnaround against the league's best team.

Here are the Eastern Conference teams eliminated from postseason contention:

  • D.C. United
  • Toronto FC
  • Philadelphia Union
  • Nashville SC
  • New England Revolution
  • Chicago

MLS Decision Day: Who made the cut in the Western Conference?

Here are the nine playoff teams from the Western Conference:

  1. LAFC - 64 points
  2. LA Galaxy - 64 points
  3. Real Salt Lake - 59 points
  4. Seattle Sounders - 57 points
  5. Houston Dynamo - 54 points
  6. Minnesota United - 52 points
  7. Colorado Rapids - 50 points
  8. Vancouver Whitecaps - 47 points
  9. Portland Timbers - 47 points

Vancouver and Portland will face off for a chance to meet LAFC in the next round of the playoffs. LAFC pipped its rival to the top see on goal differential after a late winner from Houston Dynamo's Daniel Steres ended the regular season in disappointment for LA Galaxy.

MLS Decision Day: Who's going home in the Western Conference?

Here are the teams eliminated from the Western Conference:

  • Austin FC
  • FC Dallas
  • St. Louis CITY SC
  • Sporting KC
  • San Jose Earthquakes

For newer fans, only five teams were eliminated in the Western Conference due to the discrepancy in total teams in each conference. Next season when San Diego FC joins MLS, both conferences will have 15 teams.

The first round of the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs kick off Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET with Montreal vs. Atlanta.
