Mohamed Salah offered a cryptic update on his Liverpool future in a social media post to fans after the Reds' eventful win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Liverpool fell 1-0 behind but ended up coming back to win the game, with Salah scoring with 20 minutes to go shortly after Cody Gakpo had tied things up, earning three points which took them to the top of the Premier League table.

After the game, Salah took to social media to send a message to supporters in which he appeared to acknowledge that his continuation at Anfield is far from certain.

"Top of the table is where this club belongs," he wrote. "Nothing less. All teams win matches but there's only one champion in the end. That's what we want. Thank you for your support last night.

"No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like."

Salah is approaching the final six months of his Liverpool contract and is a priority target for a number of clubs in Saudi Arabia, sparking concerns the Egyptian could end his tenure with the Reds at the end of the season.

Alongside Salah, Liverpool are also sweating over the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who find themselves in the same contractual situation, but manager Arne Slot remains satisfied with the trio's output.

"The contract situation could become a problem if the players don't perform as well as they do at the moment," Slot said before the game. "It's also not sure that if they perform not as good anymore that has anything to do with the contract situation.

"At the moment, all three of them are in a good place, they all perform really, really, really well. There are ongoing discussions between what Virgil said are the people he had to talk with, and that's not me, as you know. I talk to him about other things. Let's wait and see."
