Liverpool are closing in on new deals for talisman Mohamed Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk, multiple reports from credible sources state.

The uncertain futures of Salah, Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have dominated Liverpool's entire campaign. The high-profile trio are all on contracts which expire this summer and have been embroiled in lengthy extension talks, prompting speculation that all three could leave.

While Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid, Liverpool are increasingly confident that they will be able to strike agreements with Salah and Van Dijk.

The Times report that there has been a breakthrough in negotiations with Van Dijk, days after the Dutch centre-back revealed that "progress" had been made and an announcement was due in the near future.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is said to be "close" to finding an arrangement which satisfies the demands of Salah's outspoken representative Ramy Abbas Issa.

Fabrizio Romano underscores that update, revealing that a new deal for Salah is "imminent" and Liverpool "fully expect" Van Dijk to join him in penning fresh terms.

Salah may be enduring a goal drought by his own lofty standards - the Premier League's leading scorer has gone a grand total of four club games without finding the net - but remains one of this season's best performers across the entire division, let alone within the confines of Liverpool's squad.

Van Dijk has endured his own struggles in recent games. As Arne Slot admitted after Liverpool's 3-2 loss to Fulham on Sunday: "There will be one or two moments where he could have done better." However, there are no concerns about his long-lasting quality. "I don't worry about Virgil," the Dutch boss stressed.

The decision to keep Salah and Van Dijk may prompt others in Liverpool's squad to leave. Luis Diaz has been tipped to make an exit in the event that Salah signs a new deal, with Barcelona thought to be one of the Colombian's suitors.
